Suicide prevention learning symposium. It's everyone's business

The Centre for Suicide Prevention and the Alberta Centre for Injury Control & Research are pleased to invite you to It’s Everyone’s Business: Alberta Communities Taking Action to Reduce Suicide – Learning Symposium.

The symposium will take place from March 7 - 9, 2012 in Calgary, Alberta. The Learning Symposium is scheduled for March 7th and 8th, with a recertification day for the Centre for Suicide Prevention Trainers on March 9th, 2012.

Highlights

  • Hear Mr. Bill Wilkerson, Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO of the Global Business and Economic Roundtable on Addiction and Mental Health share ideas on how to focus suicide prevention efforts in the workplace.
  • Learn about the Community Helpers Project currently offered in a number of Alberta communities.
  • Discuss adapting suicide prevention strategies for Aboriginal communities.
  • Network with researchers, practitioners, and other stakeholders from industry and business, schools, youth organizations and communities. 
  • On the second day, share your thoughts in small group discussions about what is currently happening in suicide prevention in Alberta – the successes and challenges and what needs to happen to move the issue forward.

Deadline for registration is February 29, 2012. A limited number of scholarships are available on a first-come-first-serve basis.
