Suicide prevention learning symposium. It's everyone's business

The Centre for Suicide Prevention and the Alberta Centre for Injury Control & Research are pleased to invite you to It’s Everyone’s Business: Alberta Communities Taking Action to Reduce Suicide – Learning Symposium.

The symposium will take place from March 7 - 9, 2012 in Calgary, Alberta. The Learning Symposium is scheduled for March 7th and 8th, with a recertification day for the Centre for Suicide Prevention Trainers on March 9th, 2012.

Highlights

Hear Mr. Bill Wilkerson, Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO of the Global Business and Economic Roundtable on Addiction and Mental Health share ideas on how to focus suicide prevention efforts in the workplace.
Learn about the Community Helpers Project currently offered in a number of Alberta communities.
Discuss adapting suicide prevention strategies for Aboriginal communities.
Network with researchers, practitioners, and other stakeholders from industry and business, schools, youth organizations and communities.
On the second day, share your thoughts in small group discussions about what is currently happening in suicide prevention in Alberta – the successes and challenges and what needs to happen to move the issue forward.

Deadline for registration is February 29, 2012. A limited number of scholarships are available on a first-come-first-serve basis.
