Provincial First Aid Competitions
Would you know what to do if someone collapsed in front of you? Interested in testing your First Aid skills and having some fun?
Get a few friends or colleagues together who have First Aid training and enter a team of up to four members in the St. John Ambulance Provincial First Aid Competition. The Competition & Awards Banquet will take place in Edmonton on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the Delta Edmonton South Hotel & Conference Centre.
First Aid Competitions have been a St. John Ambulance tradition since they were first introduced in England in 1880. The primary purpose of the competition is to provide teams an opportunity to test their First Aid knowledge and skills in a realistic simulated emergency incident. Teams perform in a timed situation to provide First Aid treatment to casualties in a mock scenario created with props and volunteer casualties with simulated injuries. Judges record the team’s response and treatment of the casualties.
Teams compete in one of four divisions: Emergency First Aid, Standard First Aid, Advanced First Aid or Emergency Responder. Trophies are presented during the banquet following the Competition.
Call Maureen at St. John Ambulance 780-452-6565, ext. 8245 for registration information or visit our website to download the registration package. Entry fee is $300.00 per team (includes 4 tickets to the Banquet). Deadline for registration is February 24.
Not able to enter a team? Come cheer the teams on and observe skilled individuals as they respond to a mock emergency. Admission is free. See you there!
