Welcome to the Alberta Centre for Injury Control & Research website.

Intentional and unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death for Albertans between the ages of 1 and 44.

The Alberta Centre for Injury Control & Research (ACICR) is a provincial organization committed to advancing the impact of prevention, emergency response, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries in Alberta.  ACICR is part of the School of Public Health, University of Alberta and reports operationally to the Dean of the School, is funded by public funds through a grant from Alberta Health and Wellness and is accountable to the injury stakeholders and the citizens of Alberta.

The Centre staff consists of researchers, data analysts, program coordinators, educators and communicators who work with partners across Alberta to control injury.

The Vision:
An injury-free Alberta in which to live, work and play.

The Mission:
To reduce the societal and economic burden of injuries in Alberta by building
partnerships, promoting effective strategies and sharing knowledge.

We invite you to work with us in creating an injury-free Alberta in which to live, work, and play, by reducing the toll injuries take in our province.
